The Opportunity

We are looking for an exceptional interim finance leader to step into a high-impact Head of FP&A role for an initial period of 6–12 months. This is not a ‘steady state’ position — we need someone who thrives in a transformation environment, can hit the ground running, and is equally comfortable shaping strategy and rolling up their sleeves.

This is also a genuine opportunity to define what FP&A means in our business. You will be joining as a standalone FP&A leader — building the function, establishing its influence, and setting the standard for how finance insight is generated and used across the organisation. The canvas is largely blank, and we are looking for someone with the vision and energy to paint on it.

A central pillar of this engagement is the overhaul of our finance technology stack. You will assess what we have, remove what no longer serves us, and implement modern AI-powered tools to underpin a best-in-class FP&A function — all while keeping the core business reporting and partnering engine running smoothly.

The Team

This role reports directly to our CFO and works closely with the Financial Control team, Commercial & Senior leadership, and the Data and BI teams. At the outset, this is a standalone FP&A role, with the potential scope to shape future team structure.

The Role

Finance Technology Transformation

Lead a full audit of the current finance technology stack, identifying redundant or underperforming systems.
Design and drive the implementation roadmap for new FP&A tools — including AI-powered planning, consolidation, and reporting platforms — that maximise data processing speed and analytical output.
Evaluate and integrate AI and automation tools to streamline routine finance tasks, freeing up capacity for higher-value insight generation.
Manage vendor selection, procurement, and change management for system transitions.
Decommission legacy tools, ensuring clean data migration and minimal business disruption.
Establish scalable data architecture and governance standards for finance systems.

Building & Leading FP&A

Define and establish the FP&A function from the ground up — setting its mandate, processes, and operating rhythm within the business.
Own the annual budgeting, quarterly reforecasting, and long-range planning processes end-to-end.
Develop and maintain robust financial models and leverage AI-powered analytics tools to deliver faster, deeper insight across revenue, cost, and headcount.
Produce high-quality board and executive reporting packs, translating complex data into clear narratives for senior leadership and non-executive stakeholders.
Lead the preparation and delivery of investor reporting — producing accurate, timely, and well-contextualised financial updates for institutional investors and other key external stakeholders, in line with agreed reporting cadences and obligations.
Support the CFO in managing relationships with third-party stakeholders including lenders, auditors, advisors, and any other parties requiring financial information — ensuring outputs are accurate, professionally presented, and appropriately governed.
Drive the monthly close commentary and variance analysis in close collaboration with the Financial Control team, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Shape a longer-term vision for the FP&A team structure and capability, even if hiring is not in scope for this interim period.

Business Partnering

Act as a trusted finance partner to senior business leaders, supporting strategic decision-making with rigorous financial insight.
Build strong relationships with commercial, sales, and operational teams, embedding finance into day-to-day business conversations.
Challenge assumptions and drive financial accountability across the organisation.

Pricing & Commissions

Partner with commercial and sales teams to model and evaluate pricing structures, ensuring financial sustainability and competitiveness.
Support the design, modelling, and review of sales commission and incentive plans, assessing P&L impact and alignment to business objectives.
Provide analytical support for deal desk activities, contract structures, and margin analysis.

Hands-On Data & AI-Driven Analysis

Take personal ownership of data quality across finance systems — defining, cleansing, and maintaining core datasets.
Build and manage financial data models and reporting hierarchies, ensuring consistency across the business.
Harness modern AI and intelligent data processing tools to maximise the speed, accuracy, and depth of financial analysis and reporting.
Work closely with data engineering and BI teams to develop reliable automated pipelines, reducing manual data handling and increasing analytical throughput.
Champion the use of AI-assisted forecasting, anomaly detection, and scenario modelling to elevate the quality of insight delivered to senior stakeholders.
Be comfortable working at the detail level when required — this role demands both strategic vision and genuine operational rigour.

Essential Experience & Skills

Core FP&A Capability

Proven track record as Head of FP&A or equivalent in a fast-paced environment
Expert financial modeller with strong skills in budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis
Strong executive-level communication and storytelling with data, including for board and investor audiences
Excellent business partnering skills with a commercial mindset
Comfortable working as a standalone FP&A leader — self-sufficient, proactive, and influential without a team behind them
High degree of comfort with ambiguity and the pace of an interim engagement
Experience building or significantly shaping an FP&A function

Specialist & Technical Skills

Demonstrated experience owning a finance tech stack transformation
Hands-on experience with modern FP&A and AI-powered analytics platforms
Experience in pricing modelling and commercial finance analysis
Involvement in the design or governance of sales commission and incentive schemes
Confident user of modern AI and data processing tools to drive efficiency in analysis and reporting
Experience selecting and implementing finance or BI tools (vendor management, RFP, rollout)
Strong data management skills — comfortable owning data quality and detail without delegating

Ideal Background

Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualified experience in FP&A.
Previous interim or consultancy experience is highly desirable — you are comfortable being autonomous from day one.
Background in B2B SaaS, technology, or high-growth businesses.
You have been the person who identified a broken finance tech landscape and fixed it — not just advised on it.
You actively use AI and modern data tools in your day-to-day work and are ahead of the curve in applying them to FP&A — not just curious about them.
You have experience producing investor reporting or managing financial communications with institutional investors, lenders, or other external third parties.
You are as comfortable interrogating a data model or configuring a planning tool as you are presenting to a board or investor audience.

We're looking for a talented Staff Engineer to technically lead a high performing autonomous product team.

Staff Software Engineers at Beamery align themselves with the strategic priorities of the business, working inside a Product team to take the biggest projects from the discovery phase all the way to production.

They provide technical guidance and mentorship to Engineers from the teams they work inside, playing a key role in raising the bar for Engineering performance. They are also proactive in helping the wider best practices of Engineering across the business in close collaboration with other Staff and Principal Engineers.

What will you do as a Staff Engineer at Beamery?

Regularly shipping scalable, performant software as part of a Product team
Set the standard for operational awareness, supporting your team to own their services end-to-end

Who are we looking for?

A proven track record of designing and delivering scalable cloud-based software and services
Demonstrable experience of running and supporting services in production environments
Previous experience as a Staff or Senior Engineer
Ability to collaborate with non-technical colleagues to convert ambiguously defined problems into well-understood requirements and pragmatic solutions
Strong experience building and operating backend systems in complex environments.
Expertise with Javascript/Typescript and Node.js Ensuring quality and reliability through unit, integration and end-to-end tests.
Experience with frontend applications built in React.
A strong understanding of caching strategies for backend services and message queues.
Exposure to DevOps, incident management and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with Kafka and exposure to SQL and NoSQL databases.
Experience debugging and troubleshooting issues using instrumentation and logs.

The Platform team at Beamery enables engineering teams to build scalable and reliable services by supporting a foundation of tools and common services. These services include our managed Kubernetes clusters, observability tooling, and much more. We’re responsible for setting best practices around incident management and cost controls whilst empowering teams to build it, run it.

We’re a remote team, spread across multiple countries, but our home is in our amazing London HQ.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING AT BEAMERY

Building and evolving Platform’s managed services and tools to enable teams to run scalable and reliable services
Driving continuous improvement in incident response across Platform and the wider engineering organisation, including SLOs, alerting, and dashboards
Working with cutting edge technology in an agile environment

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are seeking a hands-on Platform Engineer with a passion for Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and Cloud technologies. Key skills/experience:

Hands-on SRE experience, including being on-call and maintaining cloud-based services
Experience managing Kubernetes production clusters at scale, including cluster upgrades, resource optimization (autoscaling, quotas), and troubleshooting complex networking or scheduling issues.
Proven track record of managing Kubernetes lifecycles, implementing security best practices (RBAC, Network Policies), and maintaining high availability for containerized workloads.
Experienced with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, particularly proficient in Terraform
Expertise in building and maintaining complex applications in the cloud
Some operational experience with our key infrastructure components is desirable, Kafka, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and Istio
Solid software engineering foundations with the ability to build and maintain production-grade tooling. Experience with Go would be preferable. NodeJS is a plus.
